The day was forecast to be gloomy and stormy, starting around 10am. We got up determined to enjoy ourselves even if it poured – after all, we brought rain coats and aren’t scared of a little rain!

It turned out the Swiss mountain weather is like ours….. the meteorologists try to predict it, but you can flip a coin to tell whether that will be correct. A storm did roll in later in the afternoon – we kept an eye on it and timed it perfectly so we were off the gondolas by the time it hit.

We did the Cliff Walk, which was a little scary but I’m definitely glad we did it. The fog rolled in as we were on the catwalk – it was really cool to watch! Katelyn took the before/after photos of the catwalk below.

Then I rode the “mountain cart,” which started midway down the mountain and went about a third of the way down. The views were absolutely spectacular! We weren’t supposed to take photos while riding (it was pretty precarious), but I did pull over a few times when the trail was wider to take in the view.

And the cows! I thought all the travel videos talking about the cows were exaggerating. I mean, they’re cows…. how cool can they be? But hearing their bells and seeing them walking along to their next grazing area was such a mesmerizing experience!

Everyone was braver than I and took advantage of various other activities offered on First – the zip line, the mountain glider, and the trottibikes. We all had a great day, ending it with a delicious meal at Barry’s restaurant in town.
We were sad it was our last night in Grindelwald…. the boys are already planning a ski vacation to visit here again!
